Alzheimer’s Australia WA is the eminent peak body for people living with dementia. It was founded in 1980 as a support group for carers and has grown to provide a multitude of services and expertise for people living with dementia and their carers. Our mission being to provide representation and support whilst advancing the interests of these people at a personal, community and political level.   Not only does the organization service the metropolitan region it also services rural areas of Western Australia with our Mobile Dementia Regional Teams.  These are located in Albany, Kalgoorlie, York and Mandurah.

AAWA has had a focus on the use of Assistive Technology to support people living with dementia for a number of years. The Safe2Walk project is the latest in research and service model development in this field by AAWA. It is the first of it’s type in the Southern Hemisphere and Australia’s only dementia specialist GPS location service.
