GPS stands for Global Positioning System and has three parts, satellites orbiting the earth, control and monitoring stations on earth and small GPS receivers.  The satellites broadcast signals from space that are picked up and identified by the receivers.  The GPS then provides a three dimensional location through latitude, longitude and altitude plus time.  Via mobile phone telecommunication towers this information is sent to the World Wide Web where it is picked up by family carers.  By logging onto a secure website, typing in a web address, username, password a map is revealed with the location of the person carrying the device.

The Safe2Walk device is the size of a small mobile phone and has 3 pre programmed telephone numbers allowing a person to make contact with friend or relative if required.  Failing to connect with the first pre programmed number it will then attempt connection with the second and third pre programmed numbers. The three preprogrammed numbers are the only ones able to call the device and the device will auto answer after ten rings.

•    long battery life
•    Safety zone that will alert the carer if the person leaves a pre determined area
•    Information useful to police in case of search
